Ex nihilo? Sure! But farmers can't eat huge cost increases + that water supplies 15% of America's crops and 13% of livestock. Flippant libertarian "ideology will simply fix this!" solution always reads as stupid to me. IMO, a smart take is one that owns + addresses costs of plan

Maybe growing food in the desert was a mistake?

“Our state intervention created perverse incentives that allowed us to engage in socially dysgenic behavior and if they stop intervening we can’t do that” is not an argument to keep doing it.

Someone tell me what happens in post-Christian Libertopia when people can't generate sufficient economic value to afford the non-distorted Actual Cost of food?

They move to places they can. Preferably with more Christians. Perpetuating a dysfunctional, corrupt, and immoral system isn’t justified because it prevents reality asserting itself. It will collapse. Better a controlled demolition than a catastrophic collapse.

Interesting to see what pillars your "moral" ideology relies on. "Controlled demolition" doing a lot of work for you there. Trying to figure out the implications of a morality that okays starving people for being economically unfit vs one that starves then for being Ukrainian.

The system isn’t starving them, not robbing people to pay corporate farmers so they can have cheap food in a hostile environment isn’t really even a “system.” The Ukranians had their food stolen, there is no comparison. You are not entitled to be subsidized to live in a desert.

I always think it would be fun to sit down, throw back a few drinks, and recreationally argue about broad topics in political philosophy. That's my impulse, but this ain't that. Have a good day!
