2/ I dunno, what tool do you think works better for putting a hex on someone than a cursed prayer scratched on lead? Just bc one tool is fake doesn't mean there are any real alternatives. https://twitter.com/RedPigRedeemed/status/1424566872398204933?s=19 …

3/ Hmm, I find this super suspect. Like progs saying "Elon Musk didn't built that; that all depends on <some useless research 40 years ago he never heard of>", it looks to me like trying to hop in front of someone else's parade.https://twitter.com/JoeNewstrom/status/1424567372539518976?s=19 …

It's an abstract tool for generic argument practice; worthless when taken as an end in itself or as the purpose of an otherwise healthy life. Occasionally useful for considering trade-offs on specific points. Utility inversely proportional to quantity.

Any attempt to supply a reason for anything is philosophizing. Your criticism is itself philosophy. Could your point be better stated as "I think certain schools of thought (or specific ideas) in philosophy aren't useful/worthwhile/whatever"?

I think it can be both a useless infohazard and a great way of deepening your appreciation of the world. However the disembodied and impractical nature of the practice can disconnect you from rooting experiences. Elaborating on and defending and extending commitments...

Is a big part of the point in a healthy case. "Talking about serious stuff with real people" is the prototypical idea.
