We just moved to a house within a mile of my in-laws, 2 bros-in-law and their families, wife’s grandma, our church and abt a dozen families from our congregation. It’s pretty great! Now we just need to convince them all to move out of town with us…

This is literally what cities are for. (Well, an intrinsic side effect of it.) Cities exist because they are deep labor markets, but it automatically means that a lot of housing options are within a reasonable, carfree travel of your destination, however you choose that.
