1/ 100% agree with this I've been reflecting a lot on how, back in the 1970s, once or twice in school we were asked to write book reports or essays on our "heroes". I think that that was the tail end of an older culture, dying even then. https://twitter.com/VarangianSkull/status/1421116023152037892 …

7/ A debate I've had w some idiot NH libertarians is the assertion "it's OK to blow a stop sign at 20 mph...if you can tell there's no car coming. It's a victimless crime, MAAAAN". No. !@# that. Your "no car coming" detector is < 99.9% accurate.https://twitter.com/josecamoessilva/status/1421144685129572353 …

I've tried to explain to friends the power of following robust protocols for common repeated actions, because the 99% of the time you don't need them train you for the 1% of time they save you from a costly fail, usually to no effect on the friends.

Convinced this is how some people end up doing evil things. Having never thought, "what would I do if friends wanted me to do horrible thing X?" They end up going path of least resistance in the moment. One sociopath can lead a small group into heinous acts this way.
