There is ALWAYS a shortage of ICU beds, even before COVID

Even if true, they can just cancel elective procedures, send a few convalescents home early, have nurses work a few extra hours and presto more beds and the staff to tend them. It's not like people die in the streets when beds in hallways labeled "ICU" are full.

According to MSN AK’s ICU capacity is at 97% and hospital capacity is at 80%. So the ICUs are definitely seeing high use relative to normal (80-85%), but the overall hospital capacity is right about where it should be, based on what I’m reading.

I know an ER doc in a "hotspot" area right now (mask order on) and he says there is no crisis.
