2/ ...which then meant that every wordpress admin tool that I tried to use to fix the widget ... was itself getting borked, because it was trying to DISPLAY the widget (in band signalling, for the fail!)

3/ I spent some time trying to figure out what table and row wordpress uses to store this ...and then realized that maybe I could just restore from yesterday. Does

4/ you're right. I restored the database, and that fixed it ...but then I tried to edit the widget again, doing it very carefully...and it got borked all over again. I think the current release of wordpress is self-borking :(https://twitter.com/averykimball/status/1419386326382698503 …
