2/ It outrages me, though, that the 99% of the population that doesn't have my income nor my ability to organize and do 3/4 of the work myself is effectively priced out of justice. (Not an attack on lawyers; an attack on gov for being so stubborn that this is what is required)

I found it’s less expensive to run for office and change the laws. I got a summons for not having a survey when replacing my walkway in 2015 — and I can guarantee you that no one else will get that summons ever again.

They used to require a survey which ran about $750 - $1200 for stuff like that replacing an AC unit or walkway. When I asked why - response was: to ensure lot coverage is ok. But it’s the same lot coverage… isn’t this just encouraging people to avoid permits or not to work?
