I understood where QC was coming from in the $100k thread because I also had to accept that I wasn't economically independent from my parents to the degree that one is "supposed" to be. much less extreme dynamic, but like, they're about to sell me a ~$5000 car for $2000

it sure seems like people who happen to have talents and dispositions that lean into what our society wants to pay lots of money do enjoy supporting creatives. patronage is one of the good human instincts.

when you are perennially short of X (food, love or love-like-things, money, etc.) you will scramble and binge and purge, and trade away the future just to survive in the present this is Tragedy
