2/ same question w new choices. Again, we are NOT talking about status or salary. who has the most agency / autonomy, as you understand it?

3/ picture two chores around the house, one of which strikes you as high agency / room for creativity / choices / thinking, one as low. You get a new job, same hours and pay as old job. New job has MUCH more autonomy / agency...and lets you outsource one household task.

4/ similar question, but reversed. New job has same hours and pay as old job, but now you're forced onto a script. Low autonomy...but you get to outsource one household task.

I chose 4 because you always *have* agency, but certainly 1 > 2 > 3 in terms of which reward/encourage agency.
-
I almost chose 4, because I would resent the imposition even of 1, but my resentment is not a reasonable measure of objective autonomy for the average person.

Today I Learned that I believe I would rather outsource yardwork than cooking, no matter how my job changed.
-
And now going back over expenses for the past year, I find that I have far more often outsourced cooking by going out to eat with family rather than paying someone to mow/landscape. This irks me.
