What does that have to do with the right to repair your own stuff? Maybe I'm just dumb but I'm not getting it

to double back, I think it is plausibly good for gov to restrict manufacturers from selling DRM'd goods which later allow the manufacturers to exercise substantial control over their customers bc centers of control are dangerous generally, not only when they're labeled "state"

Replying to @ded_ruckus @NoLongerBennett and
but the first people I want this enforced against are, like, Apple, not John Deere

I think it's a misapplication of DRM law at best. I'd rather the vendor just say, "if you open this case, you don't get warranty service anymore" (or even ANY official service) but sending law enforcement after people who do with stuff they own is a bit too far.

law enforcement does NOT get deployed when someone plugs a cable into their John Deere tractor without permission if and when someone reproduces a circuit board and sells a clone with stolen IP, then firm A sues firm B
