this would probably mean that the basic versions would go away, and the more expensive advanced version would become the only one on the market which is bad for poorer customers
"the working class spend $3,000 per year on cigarettes and lottery tickets, but the IP in a radiator raises the cost from $120 to $121, and that's why they can't save money, and therefore the upper middle class karens I already dislike are to blame" is...less than convincing.

finally, St_Rev has a saying along the lines of "if the people you complain about oppressing you just disappeared, would your life get better? if not, it's not oppression". Make Ford and Kubota disappear. Finally the working class is free of IP and DRM & can accumulate capital
-
The complaint is not about Ford and Kubota but about the voters and regulators who create incentives and opportunities for these companies to adopt one business model over another.

it seems clear that the poor condition of the working class is due both to adverse economic conditions imposed from the outside, and to poor decisions on the personal/cultural level which are mutually reinforcing factors
-
I'm not concerned with elevating the condition of the working class in general. The unfortunate condition I mentioned is one where the most conscientious members of the working class are at a disadvantage in executing the strategies most available and beneficial to them.
