Don't necessarily know I'd make it a categorical imperative, but speaking for myself, I'm about to deadlift & wish I'd started in high school. https://twitter.com/ProteusMorrill/status/1406826088890736640 …

I'm a little resistant to calling my fragile, stork-like self a "bodybuilder", but I guess given my prime objective has always been to put on muscle, as much as possible, it's probably accurate?

I don't like the way he phrases it. I think everyman should try to be strong. That doesn't neccesarily imply the same aesthetics as body building. Indeed, some people are genetically wired to be swole. Plus body-building doesn't necessarily go for strength as opposed to a look

The analogy I like to use to encourage people is to try and be 'farmer strong'. Be able to lift very heavy weight occasionaly. My older farmer cousin was thing and wirery, but 'made of piano wire' as they saying goes.

I've had two or three compliments that have stuck with me for years, and I - arrogantly - repeat to myself later. One was
@browmimb in TX when I grabbed two recently slaughtered piglets by an ankle each and lifted them over a fence "DAMN, you're FARMER strong"

Not the only ankle-grabbing that took place that weekend.
