I don't believe in "for the sake of argument". Why would I do anything for an argument, I don't owe it anything.

Those are legitimate, particularly for learning beliefs. I mainly object to it as a rhetorical device to convince them of B. It's valid to prove "if A then B", then "you believe A, so should believe B" but in practice this is almost never useful unless done in a rigorous context

it can be used in the reverse way person X argues "if A then B" I say "I disagree that A is true, but I ALSO disagree that A -> B, so , for the sake of argument, let me posit A and then show how B might still not be true. "
