25/ People dislike this point bc it interferes w forces-of-good vs forces-of-evil narrative. Far better to DECLARE that these short sighted merchants KILLED J̶E̶S̶U̶S̶ a tree for not reason other than love of dollars than to consider that maybe this is just pragmatism.

"better to let it rot" I'm pretty logging-sympathetic but rotting plays an important role in forest health as well. I once saw a quantitative estimate that a big dead tree on the ground supports more living biomass than a live standing one, though I can't find the paper rn
