Assuming you've already tried motels and found them expensive. Next up I'd try VFW halls and the like, though they may not have enough space. Also, community centers may work. The area is GR, right? I wonder if there are some industrial buildings that have space for rent.

like event space or studio space. you'd be doing it off season (after Labor Day), so you could probably get a good price. You could find a vacant retail space and do that, but you'd have to contend with a) it's too far out and they want a longer term tenant b) the space too raw

I've looked at hotels, but I haven't been impressed, considering the price. I was thinking industrial bldgs or empty office space, but I don't know how to go about looking for (very) short-term availability. Just call a commercial broker?

Look on loopnet for places to get an idea of what’s available. Then maybe call a commercial broker or two. If you see a guy attached to a lot of likely places, start with him. He’s not gonna be that interested tbh, essentially no $ in it for him, but

He may have a client who has some space and flexibility to place let’s make a deal. Or he could send you in the right direction of some spaces. I’ll think a bit more on this too
