a 1,400 page document with 7 levels of heading outline, a 40 page table of contents, thousands of cross references, 500 embedded images, and a 40 page index ...is pushing the capabilities of LibreOffice just a bit

I typeset a book in it because I used a script to convert Markdown -> LaTeX via Pandoc and then had a bunch of python scripts to move and format images and their captions, which was easier to do via text than GUI. I didn't think to unzip the .odt. :-p
