1/ people say "time goes faster when you're older", and there's some decent truth to it, but I've heard a good counter argument, and I buy it: time goes slowly when there's novelty, and quickly when there's nothttps://twitter.com/hradzka/status/1379528007409311744 …

2/ when you're five years old and every day is a new adventure - a new cartoon on TV, a new puddle to splash in, a new food you've never heard of, 10 new words, a bird in the sky unlike any you've seen before each day lasts a decade

5/ I released my first novels, what, 9, 10, 11 years back? No. The books shipped less than 4 years ago. In between I've been logging trees, fighting the town zoning board, killing knotweed, planning a cider orchard, butchering pigs, burning slash piles, and more.

Todd Barrett @thepiclordReplying to @MorlockPYep: http://lemmalab.com/wp-content/uploads/publications/2018/Why_life_speeds_up_Landau_S&I_2017.pdf … If your life consists entirely of the same routine every day, your brain will compress it all down and upon recall, it seems to 'run together' with no recollection of some days at all. Novelty forces you to create distinct memories of full events.1 reply 0 retweets 11 likesShow this thread
