Thought this would be obvious to most. The reason why God has you adhere to morals and teachings is so that you can avoid the negative effects that come from going the other way. I know that a lot of the things laid down after Exodus had to do with health even if they didn't know

As a fun aside, the colloquial usage of karma is actually radically outside the actual doctrine; karma is mostly about good or bad rebirths, at least in Buddhism, as I understand it. Even less versed in Hinduism and less still with Jains.
