I get frustrated at folks who say "government required that group X sacrifice; group Y benefited; now group Y must pay it back". Government is in the business of making MASSIVELY negative sum trade offs. That utility is GONE, burned to ash There's no way for Y to "pay it back"

5/ I remember being around 10 or so and realizing that society's expenditures on police, jails, alarms, and other property security measures to guard against theft were just purely wasted - you could not, even if it was "right" - shake that money out of convicted thieves.

6/ This was actually a pretty deep realization because I generalized it to "conservation of value / utility does not exist", and that was kind of earth shattering. So, anyway - there's no reason to be dumber than a 10 year old. Stop yammering on about reparations.
