from time to time I see commentary on market movements this annoys me for three reasons: * insane lack of epistemic humility ("the market did X because Y" ; "expect to see 30% gains over the next 4 days") * caring about things one can't influence * caring re short term stuff

3/ and finally: it's foolish to think about LITERAL tomorrow. Think about FIGURATIVE tomorrow. Invest so that you can retire in 20 or 30 years. Polish your skills so that you can compose a sonnet or butcher a hog or restore a classic car in 5 years.

4/ You have FAR more control over your life 20 years out than you have over your life 24 hours out. Tomorrow is largely dictated by inertia, momentum, and current location. 20 years out is dominated by very small changes you make today (and keep making).
