2/ 10 years after THAT I got some boxed set of Alien movies that had outtakes or a director's cut or something ...and there was the scene! Also, apparently sometimes movies are slightly recut AFTER release. One or two weeks in, if ticket sales are slow, studios might tweak it.

It always weirded me out not seeing a shot that was in the commercials, or the scene was flipped horizontally for better narrative flow. Always took me out of the moment snapping back to "Wait a minute...."

I saw them in one version but it was on TV release. It also included a bit about her daughter dying of old age. Looked to be some scenes they put back in as padding to make up for over-violence cuts they had to make for TV.

If you think that was Twilight Zone-ish, one time I rented a copy of Monty Python & the Holy Grail (a movie I knew by heart) in Bahrain. Up popped a scene I had never seen before (the "better than a lot of pussy jokes" scene) by the man from Scene 24. totally gobsmacked.

I often wonder if our culture causes a lot of synthesis of various films and such. It has to happen in music all the time because, surprise!, a shit ton of pop bands use the same lyricist. That's why a decade can sound the same. Is that from Existenz or The 13th Floor?
