I don't disagree, but isn't that proposed comparison overly simplistic? It seems to tie the question of foreign vs domestic production to the arguably separate question of 1980 vs 2020 production.

Don't talk about quality getting short shrift. Sphincters are puckered at every supplier in preparation of investigations with every document created since the plans to pull the metal out of the ground prepared for audit

turbofans have been getting steadily better in all regards, reliability included offshoring may have been involved with the 737 Max software issues (?) but 99% not with this

engine failures still just... happen, sometimes planes are set up to handle it, pilots are trained for it The System Works (tm)

FYI, two people who know a little bit about planes and engines (a 777 pilot and an engine mechanic): https://youtu.be/Tkieg1ZFcPE https://youtu.be/VQwaqDe3jio They point out how well engineered the engine and the recovery procedure were. So the QT ends up being a massive self-own…

Hell, we dont know the production date of this engine. Maybe it _WAS_ made on shore. Also, how many hours on it? The above quoted tweet is more useless than teats on a tomcat.
