The lack of an objective basis also makes it particularly difficult to refute. By saying "I'm not creepy", there is no evidence to offer, and the argument has moved to the degree of your creepiness. Yes, the left loves it.

The lack of argument doesn't matter in its original(?) context - some men make sexual approaches in highly inappropriate (and very unlikely to be successful) ways. However, some young women use it to mean "my advertising reached the wrong men".

And the thing is a lot of social skills are understood at a subconscious level, so often if they're violated you can't quite put your finger on what the problem is, it's just a gut feeling that it's creepy. But yes there are also girls who weaponize it or use it superficially.
