just wrote a script to check cross references in the book there are 1,531 sections, and 134 of them (8%) have a mismatch between the apparent indent depth, and the text of the headline valid * Fuel ** Fuel: Diesel *** Fuel: Diesel: Winter Mix invalid ** Fuel: Diesel: Additives

3/ so right now I'm fixing up the indent depths in emacs outline-mode this is necessary bc this is input to the person who's gonna format it into LaTeX for me, and I assume that they'll do it programatically

4/ after I get that baseline established, then I move on to fixing cross references cross references SHOULD be in the text like this (CCC "Fuel") or (CCC "Fuel: Diesel") but many are hand-wavy, to be filled in later, e.g. (CCC) (CCC pig stuff) or otherwise poorly formatted

5/ so by writing this script, I can do a one-time fix up now, and then verify that I still have 100% compliance with my own system before I ship it off to the layout person later.

Did you decide if it was going to be two volumes or three? I seem to recall that discussion, but don’t recall the outcome.

two, but prob gonna go to a larger page size, like 8.5 x 11, to reduce the thickness
