This goes both ways. There’s nothing like the BAMA Sprawl or Abandoned Areas in our world, not truly. Yes, there are some dodgy areas in many large metro areas, but even the CHAZ was nothing like an Abandoned Area, either the good or the bad parts. (And AA have good parts.)

And to turn the saying around, if I am free to fail, then I am free. A lot of the cultural tolerance in cyberpunk is about the Man having given up on some places/cultural practices, not about the Man having learned tolerance as a basic principle.
