Plastic can be difficult to repair at the best of times. Have you considered using epoxy, or some of that UV cure glue? I'd be a bit hesitant to use MEK and acetone on surfaces where food contact is possible.

Have you tried zip ties or baling wire? That's what my dad uses to fix everything.

Yes that would work, clumsily. I just did it at work. Use very low pressure on the drill while making holes or plastic will split.
