Yes, the end-to-end encrypted secret chat function with self-deleting messages etc is only available on mobile. On desktop it's just a good/functional/comfortable messenger, but not especially secure.

http://matrix.org is pretty easy to self host (or just try using http://matrix.org 's server) and the element client is pretty slick for end-to-end encrypted chat on both desktop and mobile.

encrypted conversations only go to one endpoint so if you initially started the secret chat between a two phones it will not show up on desktops associated with the same telegram accounts for example. You can have multiple secret chats with the same contact and different devices.

ah misunderstood a bit. but yes the feature should exist on desktop. click the contact, click more, click secret.
