Concur. I've also got to say that, especially in small venues that may not have the best sound, musician earplugs that step the volume down without really muffling it make it possible to, like, actually hear the band, and it's great.https://twitter.com/SeanMombo/status/1358502584223473664 …

I dated a musician for a few years, and even putting hearing loss aside, a pair of these--fifteen bucks!--doubled my enjoyment of the infinite amount of bar-shows I was going to, cause I promise you, the musicians there are often better than the sound guyhttps://www.amazon.com/Concert-Earplugs-Reducing-Reusable-Aluminium/dp/B07K167RV7/ref=mp_s_a_1_17?dchild=1&keywords=concert+earplugs&qid=1612807088&sprefix=concert+earplu&sr=8-17 …

Not, of course, that any of us will ever be going to hear a regional rock band play a live show in a bar/music venue again -_-

I don't think I have the moral seriousness for Shoddy Energy, I just want to go buy an EP from a ska-rap fusion band from the local college

shoddy energy is a bit too much of what it is; it's good that you don't have a full blown case like, yes, lockdown sucks, and people are sad, and politicians are idiots but, no, THEY are not out to KILL US ALL and NEVER AGAIN LET US EVER STEP OUTSIDE

I acknowledge the "emotional truth" of the pain that is felt ...but when that pain metastasizes and infects the linguistic centers of the brain, emitting sentences that appear to be statements of fact, but aren't, it's a bit much

I think I've gotten caught in a text/speech distinction. It's maybe a little more serious, but, as you say, despite being superficially a factual statement, I meant something on the level of "cooking dinner left an infinite amount of dishes, I'll be doing these until I die"

this is reasonable and normal human behavior, and I'm the weirdo here ...but, also, there's an uncanny valley thing going on. "I stubbed my toe" -> factual "This business deal literally raped me in the butt with a chainsaw" -> clearly over the top the valley is ...

stuff like "the damage that this does to the youth will likely last decades" that's not so hyperbolic as to be obviously a joke / false and, in fact, if one then enumerates the hows and whys of how the statement is true ... ugh

That's a fair point, I don't think it would require too much searching to find a sincere claim within spitting distance of my bitching. Uncanny valley, as you say.
