If insulin were discovered today, Banting and Best would be slandered as bigots and eugenicists for trying to "fix" diabetic people.pic.twitter.com/flHOQvZVj2

GP That's actually a thing? *casts dispel magic at the highest possible spell level to rid the earth of spectral wheelchairs* Wish you'd used that magic to heal your legs now, eh?

Reminds me of them including an IRL type trans person in the Baldur's Gate remake add-on, when there's spells, potions, and items that can do a full conversion instantly in setting A few of those are cursed in ways that are meant to mess with people, but there are other options

Didn't Joel Rosenberg (Guardians of the Flame series) have a character in a wheelchair sucked into a D&D type game where he was perfectly healthy?
-
Yes. He was a dwarf on the other side, but he didn’t care. He didn’t exactly embrace his differences, either. When he needed a berserk trigger, he thought about how being handicapped on Earth made him feel humiliated all the time.

You know, I saw that article, and I was like "Haven't they heard of Greater Restoration?"

Imagine one of those stories where you get transported to your favorite fantasy setting. "I pray to the gods each day to cure my legs and let me walk strong again." You: "You can't! Your story has inspired millions!" "It is my wish." You: "Your wishes are irrelevant."
-
This is highly inaccurate, as cripspiration inspiration porn is often based on people being able to walk when they were told they could never walk again, while people being told they'll never walk again and not walking isn't considered inspirational. :-P
