what's neat about this is that for all that docker is kinda shitty, the containerization revolution, and the rise of kubernetes as part of it, has made this much easier

The big issue is not rote container hosting for most companies, it's the lure of using all those sweet AWS-only features. I had this covo w/ a boss in like '08 when Google AppEngine was being born. I was always skeptical of tying the biz to a Google product that cld be sunsetted.

I briefly did banking once. In our case we couldn't use our preferred cloud vendor because of regulatory approvals. Otoh, this country is also particular with making sure no one person or org owns a large share of any bank, getting a 30% share is pretty much not allowed.
