A feeling I have had a number of times this year, which deserves a longer write-up but for now a short one will have to do: I feel that I have witnessed a great dispersion in outcomes between organizations that can function at 5:01 PM on Friday and those which cannot.

Removing them from the fridge, knowing that they must remain refrigerated, isn’t the same thing as removing them with the intent to destroy them. I know milk will spoil if left out, and I’ve still accidentally done it. If asked whether I knew it’d spoil if left out, I’d say yes*

*I wouldn’t have been answering any questions if the cops asked. But if my wife asked “Don’t you know milk spoils on the counter!?” I would have said, “Yes, but I got distracted. I’ll head to the store.” That the cops don’t say he admitted intent is, to me, quite telling.
