Ribeye for 1 or 2, prime rib if I’m cooking for more than 2. (Sometimes we have to make trade offs for efficiency.)

I'd definitely agree a really good ribeye is preferable to any prime rib. But I think a mediocre prime rib is probably better than a middling ribeye, and harder to screw up, so it might be a safer bet if you're not selecting and preparing it yourself.
