all else equal and lacking other info X people having been infected is better for the sake of immunity (note I haven’t used the phrase ‘herd immunity threshold’) than Y people having been infected if X>Y if you disagree feel free to explain why

More people catching the flu & more flu deaths per year doesn't help immunity the next year Secondary infection of severely infected covid patients is typically weaker, but most cases are asymptomatic, & the 2nd infection can mos def be worse than the first

There's no reason to hope for more infections for literally anything (Ebola, aids, flu, cold, smallpox, polio, herpes) No, I can think of one exception; chicken pox, which we tried to pass as children cause a first infection in adulthood is more severe. But then we got a vaccine
