I asked a question. Everyone (almost 90%) said "three volumes!" As is my wont, I will now ignore the majority and do what I want >>>https://twitter.com/MorlockP/status/1338245379301707777 …

2/ Dozens of people told me "don't reduce the font size ; my eyes are old". OK...so they're not primarily in favor of three volumes; they're AGAINST small type. I just did an experiment - formatted some text in the SAME FONT SIZE as my fiction trade paperbacks

3/ (11 pt Garamond, which is actually larger print than typical publisher trade paperbacks) I then adjusted the page size to 8.5 x 11, and went to two columns. The result was ... quite readable.pic.twitter.com/pkO6qIw4iJ

Is LaTeX an option? (I have no personal experience other than liking its output; just curious.)1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -

I use LaTeX for TTRPG rulebooks, where automatic ToCs, indices, and cross-references are worth every bit of the hassle it sometimes is to get pretty output. Also handy is the ability to put chapters/sections/etc. in files, and shuffle the whole book by moving include directives.

The one I immoderately named after myself: https://rpj.manywords.press/ Although I haven't actually gotten to a public release of the LaTeX version—I have a few tables left to copy from the previous release, set in LibreOffice.
