I crap on some retailers all the time (e.g. @lowes ).
Just had a delightful experience with @LLBean - wanted to call and check on an order. Website, clicked "cust support", phone # showed up on same page. Called, got a human in 10 seconds.

I’m ALWAYS willing to pay a bit extra to know that it includes competence. I’ve yet to have a poor experience and think, “but, yeah. That was totally worth the two bucks I saved.”

In all fairness though, you probably got at least a 20% competence upgrade because they recognized your area code and could understand your regional accent. If one of my Louisianan friends got that service I'd really be impressed
