I think I can clear this up. Somebody is a tradpub author whose publisher can afford to pay for book store displays and blurbs by famous names. Somebody is discovering that this isn't enough to sell books any more.

Authors are artists and the cliche of the starving artist isn't a cliche for nothing. I like actual bookshops and actual hardback books, but being able to download books from the ether is a boon to readers and writers both. Buggywhips were both a beautiful and useful commodity.
