classically porn makers had a hard time getting banking not for moral reasons, but bc they were "high risk" -- ie, people who buy porn disproportionately chargeback the payments, presumably when their spouse sees the credit card statement and they claim fraud

As others have pointed out, conservative politicians have been unable (unwilling?) to make a serious strike against porn consumption or the porn industry. Yet ONE NYT article and suddenly things start happening. Personally doubt its gonna 'stick' but shows where real power is.

there's sort of a line around where you keep getting caught enabling child sexual abuse though. it's hard to figure out where precisely the line is, and how to prevent it from moving, but pornhub is at least arguably complicit in real crime.
-
Is it, though? Like, I hate PornHub, but is hosting the content complicity in the abuse? If Discord is used to discuss a crime, is Discord itself complicit in that crime once committed? This is, ironically, what Section 230 is all about, even.
