There's a subtle selection bias in the OP, though. One only disagrees with a doc when one has pretty good information. If the doc is wrong in the majority of interactions, that's a different thing.

Bigger issue is evidence based practice changes so often that an "ignorant" amateur may be closer to the truth than a credentialed "expert" quite aside from quality of evidence issues
