/ got the distances wrong, announced them to the rest of the ZBA, ignored me when I corrected him with actual distances from a certified surveyor then he walked in a small circle where the barn already was and basically said "looks good!"

/ I said "The purpose of this visit is to visit the site. The site is 300+ feet deep and 300 feet wide. There are other locations. Shall we walk the width and depth of the property?" He ignored me / refused to make eye contact. I asked again. Ignored me again.

/ I said "OK, I want to go on record that I've TWICE asked" What happened next was a bit surprising.pic.twitter.com/R9v2TXP8XR

/ Effectively none. The person asking for the variance has the burden of proof on five distinct criteria, and they have zero arguments for any of them. I sort of HOPE the ZBA screws me, bc if they do, I WILL win in court, and then I will sue again for lawyer fees.

/ ZBA is the Zoning Board of Appeals. Neighbor wants to build a barn in a location where the 20 year old zoning law forbids him. He violated the law and a cease and desist and already did so. He now needs a variance to escape a tear down order. https://twitter.com/MgFeSiOH/status/1336426635852181506 …

/ Setbacks exist town wide and exist to preserve property values, and to prevent run off issues. His terrible barn affects my property values, and destroys my driveway.pic.twitter.com/s1DWsPV6o4

/ He's got 1.6 acres. He admits that he could build it in a legal location. He just doesn't want to. Problem is that the ZBA is violating the law.

/ I'm not a fan of gov regulations either, but they existed before either of us bought the land, and they apply to both of us - his property value is protected by restrictions on me, and mine by restrictions on him. He's unilaterally defecting https://twitter.com/MgFeSiOH/status/1336427587082596358 …
