even if they apply some type of veneer to avoid this it looks terribly costly and inefficient; I’m fine w new construction techniques (as I’m certain you are also) but they need to be efficient in order to gain a significant market share

When I was a kid there was a fad for textured plaster walls with sharp spikes that would cut you if you leaned against the wall. Hostile indoor architecture for homeowners who REALLY don't want their paint smudged.

That's one of many things wrong with that. Can't use steel. Low slump concrete can crack more easily. Ugly looking, impractical wall. What a terrible idea when camlock-based forming systems are pretty damn easy to use and set.
