2/ Both the WTC and the Concorde were government boondoggles. They taxed ordinary people to build monuments to ego that the free market didn't want and wasn't willing to pay for. https://twitter.com/boku_vico/status/1334649916094898178?s=19 …

13/ People are wired for hedonic treadmills. You take a bus 45 min to work in 1982 and drive a car 33 min to work in 2017 and telecommute in 2020, and the average person is going to conflate 2017 and 2020 ...and further pick the WORST traffic jam they got in as "typical".

14/ No, because people might prefer to live and work remotely, and better IT allows them to. Stacking people into hives is a cost, not a benefit. https://twitter.com/CloakedClaviger/status/1334695768213610499?s=19 …

Progress and potholes are not equally distributed. Around a few desirable cities, traffic really has gotten a lot worse. In a few unlucky cities, potholes have gotten a lot more common. People everywhere confuse the local for the universal.

I did a little research and it looks like commutes in the US are rising. Also, potholes are increasing in at least the UK per this article: https://www.motoringresearch.com/car-news/rac-proves-potholes-getting-worse/ … If I understand your theory, this would be expected though as infrastructure is government controlled?pic.twitter.com/MVUkt4akyo
