I rewatched Blade Runner 2049 a few days ago and ... it's growing on me. It's absolutely a worthy heir to the original, and works on a ton of levels.

I don't have a concrete thing to point to, unfortunately, just that the original had an uncanniness for me that was great and (despite thinking it's a virtue!) might even be incompatible with the exceptional level of craft in the sequel.
