Speaking of which, my no subtweeting rule: I try my best not to subtweet. I think as a practice it encourages catty, malicious behavior and rewards it with Internet points, is not nearly as clever as it is perceived to be. It's not who I want to be, even if dopamine disagrees.

When I catch myself doing it, I try to make it unambiguous what I'm commenting about. Microtactically, I generally don't tag people, because I'm sensitive to the Twitter dynamics of "perceived leader with 100k followers tags someone adversarially = bad stuff will often happen."

That said, I'm still a Japanese salaryman at heart, and there are some topics which I can't comment on other than obliquely. Overwhelmingly, that will not be about the actions of anyone else "on the Internet" per se; I'd be worried about more temporal consequences.
