2/ "Settle" "Taxed the worst" I'm laughing bc it's not uncommon for a plumber to drive his family around in a $90,000 4 door truck w leather seats that he writes off as a biz expense, while academics ride bikes and get paid garbage. https://twitter.com/izzyrose22/status/1329577635249332226?s=19 …

3/ So you're arguing that people should go to college, so that they find it easier to send their own kids to college? That sounds really circular, and like it only benefits the colleges. Also, college is bad and we need less of it.https://twitter.com/izzyrose22/status/1329600705406115840?s=19 …

isabel ツ @izzyrose22Replying to @MorlockPThat’s on me for not specifying which part of the working class I was talking about. I meant the working class that makes enough to live comfortably but too much for their children to qualify for financial aid & not enough to pay for a 4 year degree without going into huge debt.5 replies 1 retweet 25 likesShow this thread -

4/ Well, that's NOT what you said, your comment was as I characterized it above. But if you want to change your argument, ok,fine. Do you have evidence that working class people don't enjoy their jobs? Do you have any evidence that they don't live well?https://twitter.com/izzyrose22/status/1329604615143362561?s=19 …

5/ However, I do need to criticize the idea that one should feel "passionate" about a job. Tons of people live very very well with jobs that are...fine. Passion is for families, hobbies, and other things. It's ok for a job to just be a job.

6/ College is bad for lots of reasons. Price is one. 4 years of opportunity cost is another. Majors outside of STEM teaching no useful skills is the biggest one.https://twitter.com/izzyrose22/status/1329605226505134086?s=19 …

isabel ツ @izzyrose22Replying to @MorlockPCollege is bad bc it’s been corrupted to get the most money out of people as they can That needs to be fixed while simultaneously helping our citizens purse the life they want & then potentially making the cost of higher education more accessible so people won’t go into huge debt4 replies 3 retweets 20 likesShow this thread -

One of our friends (I disremember who) showed a beautiful (and I think valuable) piece of art his high-school aged daughter created, and I thought 'there's an exception to the rule, perhaps that youngster should spend money on artistic skill training if it's well planned'

Art school too is often just about pleasing the contradictory whims of advisors and coming up with ridiculous pretentious narratives about your piece.

I dont know anything at all about art school, but wasn't necessarily thinking about a college degree. Artists need to eat too though, and I imagine there are plenty who teach...and I'd think marketing your own skill might be the most useful thing an artist could learn.
