I've been raided by the police, charged w felonies, pushed into bankruptcy by a bank / the SBA / the crash of 2008, and had to start over at $0 at age 40, with no employer on my resume since age 26. Shit sucks, but you're not the ONLY authority on hard times, or starting over.
