also, "seed corn" in a literal sense is, yes, as you say. It's often used figuratively to mean things like "the money we need to buy new computers next year", etc. In this case I'm talking about CULTURAL, not FINANCIAL capital.

as a side note, in the future I'd request that you say "I don't understand the analogy" instead of "the analogy makes no sense". I try not to say things that make no sense and I think I succeed, so saying that reads as an attack

I thought it made perfect sense. If you're going to build a cohesive army, having people that already hold the same values & understanding of 'how things work' is a huge advantage.
