Finished The Odyssey during my mid day break, before I ambled around the farm. The Ancient Greeks were definitely murder hobos, and I don't say that in a light hearted way. Warriors are always giving each other beautifully crafted gifts, but none of them has any maker skills.

4/ Yes. They sucked. But Odysseus' explanations for why he wants to kill them swirl around a bit. Sometimes "eating him out of house and home", sometimes "banging the maids", sometimes "proposing to my [ presumed ] widow". https://twitter.com/KelseyAGeorge/status/1326293272562606080 …

5/ I'm having a plot of people tag in and explain to me that Culture Was Different in the bronze age, and Let Me Splain About The Greeks To You. Guys. I know. I majored in Roman history. I'm not unfamiliar with the ancient world. I'm riffing here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Z-tCU-sULA …

To be fair, among the classical Greeks and later, Odysseus wasn't favored. But as a fan of him myself, I have to say I'd expect Morlock to shoot me and my friends if we were staying at his farm, eating his stores, bothering his wife, and building unlicensed sheds. Justifiable now?

Also, it's a common enough recommendation nowadays, but you might enjoy Achilles in Vietnam and/or Odysseus in America. Both interesting, but the former is better. Ody in America starts to trudge in the 3rd act. Analyzes the Odyssey as an allegory for PTSD.
