Reminds me, one time at work (I managed a storage facility), someone had half a dozen antique whisky barrels delivered (empty). The smell was simply amazing!! The charred oak, the decades of whisky softened by age. It was a delicious smell.

I also never realised how deeply they charred the barrels. Always assume they were lightly toasted, but these were deeply burnt and cracked like a log from the fire.
