1/ I get flak, sometimes, for telling people to google stuff instead of asking me. Why am I a mean-headed poopy pants? well, I mean, a large percent of it is that I'm an !@#-hole. No question about it.

Thing is he’s not being an asshole in this case. He politely refused to consent to being directed to, and provided an easy, effective, & obvious tool for finding an answer (which could have been found in literally two clicks). One may refuse a perceived compulsion to engage.

The asshollery here came from the one asking Morlock to do a trivial search, responding to non-compliance with several insults.

Literally minutes ago I was teaching my 10 year old son exactly the same lesson: when you ask for help, and get “Here’s how you find the answer yourself” instead of being spoon fed the answer, take the advice and don’t be an asshole about it. Thing is he’s 10.

yeah, some people think that that sort of response is assholish instead of realizing that it's the only valid way for adults to educate children [ of whatever age ] /shrug
