1/ I get flak, sometimes, for telling people to google stuff instead of asking me. Why am I a mean-headed poopy pants? well, I mean, a large percent of it is that I'm an !@#-hole. No question about it.

5/ A dumb question is one that's already been answered up thread, or which has the correct answer in the first google hit. Believe it or not, I always google a question before I tell someone else to google it.

6/ Why? To make sure that I'm being a SMALL !@#-hole, and not a large one. If, and only if, the answer is in the top google hit will I ask someone "what did google say when you asked?"

18/ I learned this, hard, at my first job, from a senior engineer. She'd only answer questions if I explained the first two or three things I'd tried before coming to her. https://twitter.com/illiteralworst/status/1321476382044483585 …
